Box 640
Woodbridge, CA 95258
Subject: Knowles-Roek/Roek Bros Construction
102 South Wilson Way
Stockton, CA 95205
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed Modified
Remedial Action Plan (Modified RAP), dated June 25, 2012, submitted on your behalf by
Stratus Environmental, Inc. (Stratus). In the Modified RAP, Stratus proposed several objectives
of work listed below:
1) Properly destroy a remediation well (VW-6) that is obstructed approximately 30 feet
below surface grade (bsg).
2) Reduce concentrations of groundwater contaminants near and down-gradient from the
former northern USTs using ozone injection, a form of insitu chemical oxidation (ISCO).
3) Drill and install the remediation wells required to deliver ozone into the saturated zone.
In order to accomplish these objectives Stratus is proposing the following scope of work:
1) Over-drill well VW-6 to a total depth (60 feet bsg) using 10-inch diameter hollow stem
augers and backfill to surface with neat cement.
2) Drill and install five dual completion injection wells (IW-1 A/B through IW-5 A/B) using 8-
inch diameter hollow stem augers. The 2-foot screened sections will be installed
between approximately 45 and 50 feet bsg (A), and between 70 and 75 feet bsg (B).
3) Collect soil samples during the advancement of well borings IW-1 A/B through IW-5 A/B
for chemical analyses, Iithological evaluation, and to assist in the construction of the
ozone injection wells.
4) Mobilize and construct an ozone injection system at the property and begin sparging
ozone into the subsurface using wells, IW-1 A/B through IW-5 A/B.
