Typical monitoring well profile is also attached to this
letter, Plate 2.
All wells are recorded with the Department of Water Resources -
"water Well Drillers Report". These reports state the current
owneri name, location of well including a well location sketch,
well construction, well tests, and subsurface soil descriptions.
A copy of this report is included in our office and field files,
and with the drilling company.
All monitoring wells are thoroughly developed to stabilize the.
sand pack surrounding the screen section of the well and to free
the well of silt, sand and turbidity. The development of these
wells are accomplished by using a teflon hand pump.
Approximately, 5 to 10 five-gallon-buckets of water is removed
and/or the turbidity has subsided prior to sampling the
groundwater. A TSP solution is used to wash the hand pump and
later rinsed with water when used for more than one well.
Sample Storage and Handling
All samples are stored in our "clean" lab. They are labeled with
the date of sampling, project name, project number, baring
number, and depth of sample.
Samples selected for laboratory testing are delivered to
analytical labs the same day of sampling or within three days of
the sampling date. According to EPA standards, samples must be
processed and tested within the holding times set by EFA. These
times vary from 43 hours to 28 days depending upon the requested
test.
Samples of potential contamination or of known contamination are
stored in a refrigerator, (dewignated for this type of samples) .
The temperature is kept at approximately 40' Fahrenheit. Samples
are kept for approxjmma ly 20-t1,-30-days-from-t a--sampling- ,- ---
at which time are discarded and the bras tubes and glass .ware
rinsed with water.
are cleaned with TSP an.3
