L
SUBSURFACE SOIL AND GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS
' The following paragraphs of this section present a general view
Of subsurface soil conditions at the site. Detailed descriptions
' of site soils encountered at each test boring are presented on
the Boring Logs Plates A-1 through A-6.
In summary, the subsurface soils encountered at the site are
described as loose fill to a depth of 15 feet below existing
grade in test boring TB-l. Some gasoline odor was encountered in
' this fill. Olive brown to brown silty clay was encountered below
the fill and to a depth of 26 feet. Interbedded silty sands,
' silty clays and sandy silts were encountered below the brown
silty clays and to a maximum depth explored of 41. 5 feet.
The subsurface soils encountered in test boring TB-2 are
described as black to brown sandy silt to a depth of 3 feet below
existing grade. From a depth of 3 feet to 11. 5 feet below
existing grade, brown silty clay was encountered.
Loose fill was encountered in test boring TB-3 to a depth of 6
feet below existing grade. Dark yellow brown to olive brown
clayey to sandy silts dere encountered below the fill to a depth
' of 36 feet below existing grade. Underlain the silts is a
brown veryfine gray
grained clayey sand to a depth of 40 feet below
grade.
' Groundwater was not observed in an of
y the test borings at the
time of our field investigation. However, the groundwater
' conditions at this site are anticipated to fluctuate in the
future due to factors such as seasonal rainfall, groundwater
' pumping and recharging, seepage conditions and construction
activities. However, the influence of these factors could not be
determined at the time of our investigation.
3
