Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids <br /> with strong aromatic petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are <br /> flammable and have low solubility in water. Exposure to these <br /> materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild <br /> eye, nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect <br /> on the central nervous system. Symptoms of exposure at these <br /> concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, and <br /> loss of coordination. Certain components of gasoline (BTE&X etc. ) <br /> are known or suspected carcinogens. <br /> The following additional hazards are expected on site: typical work <br /> related to facility. Noise, falling rods, flying hammer, snapped <br /> cables, etc. on the drill ria. <br /> E. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> Based on evaluation of potential hazards, the following levels of <br /> personal protection have been designated for the applicable work <br /> areas or task: <br /> Location Job Function Levels of Protection <br /> Exclusion zone Drill borings A B C D Other <br /> Reduction zone Preserve samples & A B C D Other <br />
