Container types and
materials will be selected to be nonreactive with the particular analytical.parameter tested.
Sample Handling
Sample containers will be labeled prior to.sample collection. Samples will be kept cool
with cold packs until received by the laboratory. Afihe time"of sampling, each sample '
will be logged on a chain-of-custody recordthat will accompany the sample to the
laboratory.
Samples that require overnight storage prior to shipping to the laboratory will be kept
cool (4°C) in a refrigerator. The refrigerator is kept iii;a warehouse, which will be locked
when not occupied by an IT employee. A sample/refrigerator log will be kept to record
the date and time that samples are placed into and removed from the refrigerator.
Samples will be transferred from .IT to a state-certified laboratory by courier or taken
directly to th'e laboratory by the environmental sampler. Sample shipments from IT to
laboratories performing the selected analyses routinely occurred within 24'hours of
sample collection.
I.
Sample Documentation
The following procedures will be used during sampling and analysis to provide
chain-of-custody control during sample handling from'€collection through storage. Sample
documentation included the use of the following:
• Water sample field data sheets to document Chain-of-custody record sheets for
sampling activities in the field documenting possession and transfer of
samples
• Labels to identify individual samples
• Laboratory analysis request sheets for
documenting analyses to be performed
Sac1N:ICamPk\Data\ rcliive\Arco\54691Reportsl5469p103.doc-95Usg:1 ITCorporatioai
B-4 02/28/00
i
