Concentrations of
BTEX and 1,2-DCA that exceed maximum contaminant levels for public drinking water are present-in
MW-1, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4. No recommendations for future investigation/remediation were
included in the report.
Without recommendations or professional evaluations included in quarterly monitoring reports, EHD is
not being informed of your plans to return the ground water at this underground storage tank release
site to pre-release conditions.
A complete understanding of the contaminant soil mass and its potential to further degrade the ground
water is needed.. A Site Conceptual Model (SCM)is required for this site. A professional evaluation
that discusses the lateral and vertical extents of the soil and ground water plume is to be included in
the SCM. If data/information in the SCM does not show that the contamination in the soil and ground
water is defined, a work plan for further investigation must be submitted to EHD. The SCM is due at
EHD by December 1,2006.
In addition, quarterly monitoring reports are to include a conclusion section that discusses the nature
and extent of the ground water petroleum plume and a recommendation section that discusses your
plans for the continuing investigation at the site. EHD directs you to include a recommendation
and conclusion section and professional evaluation of the site's status in every quarterly
monitoring report.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health DepartX
zz
Michael J.
