Advanced
GeoEnvironmental , Inc . o :
15 June 2010
AGE-NC Project No. 10-1779 b
Mr. Michael Infurna
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton,California 95202
Subject: Addendum to Workplan for Soil Vapor Extraction/Air Sparging Pilot Test and
Additional Groundwater Investigation
former HARRY'S AUTO
2662 North Wilson Way,Stockton,California
Dear Mr. Infurna:
At the request of Mr.John and Ms.Maxine Ferraiolo,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.(AGE)has
prepared this addendum to the work plan entitled Workplan for Soil Vapor Extraction/Air Sparging
Pilot Test and Additional Groundwaterinvestigation(Workplan)dated 05 September 2008,prepared
by Ground Zero Analysis,Inc., for 2662 North Wilson Way, Stockton,California(site).
The Workplan identifies that an internal combustion (IC)-based vapor extraction system will be
utilized for the pilot test. The proposed IC system would be capable of achieving flow rates up to 110
cubic feet per minute (cfin) and a vacuum of greater than 75-inches of water. AGE proposes the
following modification to Workplan:
• A granular activated carbon(GAC)-based soil vapor extraction(SVE)system will be utilized
in lieu of the IC system. The GAC SVE system will operate with a 2'/2-horsepower,
regenerative vacuum blower;the vacuum blower will be rated at a maximum 150 stand cubic
feet per minute(scfin). The inlet of the vacuum blower will be directly routed to the vapor
extraction wells with PVC piping. The outlet of the vacuum blower will be directly routed
through multiple 400-pound, vapor-phase GAC adsorption canisters located adjacent the
vacuum blower.
• Soil vapor samples(effluent and influent)collected during the pilot test will be transmitted
under chain-of-custody procedure to Caltech Environmental Laboratories and analyzed for
TPH-g, BTEX and MTBE using EPA Methods 8015M (TPH-g) and 8260B (remaining
analytes).
Use of the GAC-based system will enable a more reliable and consistent pilot test. The GAC-system
will also be capable of higher vacuum rates, should it be necessary.
837 Shaw Road•Stockton,CA 95215
Telephone(209)467-1006•Fax(209)467-1118
