This case meets all of the required criteria of the Policy. A summary evaluation of
compliance with the Policy is shown in Attachment 1: Compliance with State Water Board
Policies and State Law. The Conceptual Site Model upon which the evaluation of the case has
been made is described in Attachment 2: Summary of Basic Case Information (Conceptual
Site Model). Previous Recommendations are included in Attachment 3. Highlights of the case
follow:
This.case is an active auto maintenance business. Four gasoline USTs were removed and an
unknown volume of impacted soil was excavated to a depth of 10 feet, disposed offsite, and
replaced with clean fill in April 1989 though the unauthorized release was not reported until March
1997. Soil vapor extraction and air sparging were conducted between December 2012 and
September 2013 for a total of 11,759 hours, which removed 6,714 pounds of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg). Since 2001, eight groundwater monitoring wells have been
installed and monitored. The rate of TPHg extraction in September 2013 was 7 pounds per day.
According to groundwater data, water quality objectives have been achieved or nearly achieved for
all constituents except in MW-1 and MW-4 in the source area.
The petroleum release is limited to the soil and shallow groundwater. According to data available
in GeoTracker, there are no supply wells regulated by the California Department of Public Health
or surface water bodies within 1,000 feet of the defined plume boundary. The nearest well, well
number 3901122-001, an inactive well for the Frontier Motel, is 201 feet west northwest
FELICIA MARCUS, CHAIR I THOMAS HOWARD,EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
1001 1 Street,Sacramento,CA 95814 I Mailing Address:P.O.Box 100,Sacramento,Ca 95812-0100 1 www.waterboards.ca.gov
,RECYCLED PAPER
