San Joaquin County EHD September 5, 2008 Page 9 of 10 Zero proposes advancing two borings and collecting groundwater samples at the locations shown on Figure 2. V&W will advance the borings using a drilling rig equipped with eight-inch diameter hollow stem augers. The borings will be drilled to the capillary fringe and a hydropunch tool will be advanced inside the augers into the water table and groundwater samples collected. The groundwater samples will be collected through the hydropunch tool,placed into the appropriate containers, checked for headspace, uniquely labeled, temporarily stored on ice in an ice chest cooled to approximately 4°C, and will be delivered under chain of custody protocol to Argon Laboratories. The groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPHg using EPA method 8015M, BTEX by EPA method 8021B, and gasoline oxygenate additives, including 1,2-DCA and EDB using EPA method 8260B. Obtaining encroachment permits for drilling in county right of way has been time consuming in the past. Ground Zero proposes that the pilot test activities continue without delay while the encroachment permits for this phase of work are processed. Protocols and Safety All field activities performed at the site will be conducted in accordance with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan (Attachment B) and Health and Safety Plan (Attachment C). Reporting Following the receipt of analytical data, Ground Zero will prepare a technical report describing field activities, results, conclusions, and recommendations for submittal to EHD.
