"A-V I-DWI
J 3.3.2 Field Evidence of Soil Contamination
Slight to strong gasoline-odors were detected in Boring B1 by the field geologist during
J drilling. Organic vapors detected in Boring B1 ranged from 1967 parts per million (ppm)
at 15.5 feet bgs, decreasing to 1629 ppm at 25 feet bsg. At 30 feet bgs and 35 bgs, organic
vapors were detected at 54 ppm and 9 ppm, respectively. Organic vapors were not detected
at 38 feet bgs in Boring B1. Organic vapors were not detected in Borings B2, B3 or B4.
3.3.3 Soil Sample Analysis
J
Petroleum hydrocarbons were only detected in Boring B1. A summary of the analytical
results for soil samples is presented in Table 1. TPH as gasoline was detected at B1-25 and
B1-30 at 1,700 ppm and 5.9 ppm, respectively. TPH was below detection limits in Boring
B1 at 35 feet bgs. Toluene and xylenes were detected at 35 feet bgs in Boring B1 at 0.007
J ppm and 0.016 ppm, respectively. Benzene was not detected in any analyzed sample from
Boring B1. All analytes were below detection limits in samples collected from 50, 55, and
60 feet bgs in Boring B4. Analytical Reports and chain-of-custody are located in Appendix
B.
TABLE 1
Analytical Results from Soil Borings
March 2, 1994
(mg/kg) parts per million
Sample I.D.
