I
. H. KLEINFELDER&ASSOCIATES
.N
I
2 BACKGROUND
R --.---------------------.--...--. -------- -------------
The Guild Winery facility is located at 1 Winemasters 'Way in the
City of Lodi, as shown on Plate No. 1. An on—site 500 gallon
underground fuel storage tank was used to fuel trucks and other
vehicles during business operations . Use of the tank was
discontinued and the tank was excavated. The excavation area is
shown on Plate No. 2. In a previous investigation, soil samples
indicated the presence of gasoline related constituents in the
- soil around the excavation pit. On April 29; 1985, a ground
water sample was collected from the on—site production well and
analyzed for EPA 601 compounds (chlorinated hydrocarbons) and EPA
602 compounds (aromatic hydrocarbons). Low concentrations of
benzene, toluene, and xylene were detected in the first set of
ground water samples .
A total of eight soil borings were drilled from July 23 to July
26, 1985. Monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 were installed in
Ea four of the soil borings, and soil samples were collected from
the other four borings . Data obtained from PIA field readings
! ` and analytical results of soil and ground water samples showed
the presence of hydrocarbons below the tank excavation area.
Results of this investigation are described in JHK&A's "Soil and
Ground Water Assessment Report" dated December 16, 1985.
3.
19: 531 2
