RAM
KLEiNFELDER
i..f
3 FIELD ACTIVITIES
The following activities were performed to assess the current condition of the ground water
and vadose zone at the site:
;I o Quarterly water level measurements(three quarters)
o Quarterly ground water sampling(three quarters)
6 o Soil sampling
3.1 QUARTERLY WATER LEVEL MEASUREMENTS
Beginning in November 1987, quarterly water level measurements were made in MW-1
t
through MW-8. Each quarter, prior to taking measurements, all eight wells were opened
and allowed to equilibrate to atmospheric pressure. Measurements were then made using
1 a conductivity water level meter tc measure the depth of ground water from the north rim
of the PVC well casings. To reduce the potential for cross-contamination, the water level
=) meter was decontaminated using a detergent wash and distilled water rinse prior to
'.` measuring each well. Depth to water measurements were recorded on field observation
sheets for future use.
3.2 QUARTERLY GROUND WATER SAMPLING
Beginning in November 1987, quarterly ground water samples were collected from MW-1
through MW-8. The following procedures were used on each monitoring date during the
sampling of each well:
1. Depth to static water level was measured with conductivity water level meter.
This information was used to calculate the volume of water in the well casing.
Nw
2. The water quality of the well was checked by collecting a single bailed
sample to visually inspect for the evidence of floating product and/or war
discoloration.
; .t
to 113-88-908 5
