ly Monkoeing Well Installedon Workplan <br /> 707 East Yosemite Avenue Manteca CdhTOmla <br /> 3.0 RESULTS <br /> 3 1 Sod Bonng and Well Installation <br /> On August 13, 1993, three soil borings were drilled to depths of 30 to 35 feet bg with 8- <br /> inch-diameter hollow-stem augers The borings were completed and developed as 2- <br /> inch-diameter groundwater monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 Well construction <br /> details are shown on the boring logs included in Appendix C <br /> During drilling, subsurface soils were sampled at five-foot intervals or at significant <br /> lithologic changes Soil samples and drill cuttings were inspected in the field for evidence <br /> of hydrocarbons by sight, odor, and with a photoionization detector The subsurface soils <br /> consisted of mostly sands to a depth of approximately 16 feet bg, followed by clayey to <br /> sandy silts and silty clays to approximately 26 feet bg Sands were encountered from 26 <br /> feet to the maximum drilled depth of 35 feet bg Groundwater was encountered during <br /> dulling at depths ranging from 23 to 27 feet bg No petroleum odors were noted in any <br /> of the soil samples <br /> All drill cuttings were stored temporarily on site, between layers of plastic sheeting, <br /> pending laboratory analysis of the boring samples for waste characterization <br /> Water generated during well development and auger cleaning was stored temporarily on <br /> site in DOT-approved 55-gallon drums, pending laboratory analysis of the boring and <br /> groundwater samples for waste characterization <br /> 3.2 Analytical Resutts: Soil <br /> Selected representative soil samples were submitted under chain-of-custody to <br /> Excelchem Environmental Labs of Citrus Heights, California, a state-certified analytical <br /> laboratory, for chemical analysis All samples were analyzed for concentrations of <br /> • TPH as gasoline and diesel, by EPA Method 8015 <br /> • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA method <br /> 8020 <br /> • Total lead <br /> The soil sample analytical results are summarized in Table 1 No petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons were reported except 0 005 ppm xylenes in the 20-foot soil sample from <br /> MW-3 The detected lead concentrations are indicative of naturally-occuring levels, far <br /> below the hazardous-waste designation of 1,000 ppm The laboratory reports and chain- <br /> of-custody forms are included in Appendix B Laboratory quality assurance and control <br /> is addressed in the Aegis SOP <br /> • <br /> 930428 WPN 3 <br />
