Soil was removed
based on presence of odor and elevated photoionization detector (P[D) readings: no soil staining was
noted. At completion, the excavation measured approxi ately 10 feet by 10 feet by 8 feet deep. One
grab confirmation sample(S-10) was taken at the base o the excavation. A sidewall composite sample
(EE-comp) was created by combining grab samples, one ol[ected from each sidewall, at depths ranging
from 4 to 7 feet below ground surface(bgs).
The west dispenser area was then excavated around form-.T sample location S-9. Again, no staining was
note, soil was removed based on odor and PID readings. Final excavation size was approximately Ib
feet by 12 feet by 10 feet deep. Grab confirmation sample S-I I was collected at the base of the
excavation at a depth of tO feet bgs. Composite sample WE-camp was collected from depths at 4 to R
fcxt bgs along excavation wails.
The Krazan technician collected one enrnposite sam to (C-1) from the stockpile created during
excavation activities.
Following sample collection, the ends of the sarnpie sic ves were covered by TeflonO Elm and seated
witlt tight fitting, plastic caps secured by TeflottV tape. The sample sleeves were labeled and placed in a
(:()11ler elkesi, which contained synthetic iue and were cu led to approximately 4 degrees Celsius (4°C).
The sarnples tivcre then transported under Chairs-of-C study protocu[ to a State-certified analytical
laboratory for analysis.
Based on previous analytical requirements of the SJCE D, the soil samples from beneath the dispenser
islands were submitted for analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-D) by LUFT
Method: benzene, toluene, ethylbeTi7ene and xylenes ( TEX); TPH as gasoline (TPH-G), and methyl
tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) by EPA Method 8020• amples from beneath the dispensers were also
analyzed for fuel oxygenates by EPA Method 8260B_ Stockpile samples were analyzed for TPH-D by
DHS LUPT Method, BTEX/TPI[-GIMTBE by Methot 8020 and soluble lead by EPA Method 1311
(TC LP extraction)/3010,
KRAZAN&ASSDC ATF-,INC.
offices Serving the Western Vriked Slates
.1a»a1W.nnn
