science
S
I
i
5
September 16, 2002
Mr. Ray Fulton SEP
4035 Riverhaven Dr. 2 2002
Reno, NV 89509-7501 ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
PERMITISERVICES
SUBJECT: WATER WELL SAMPLING RESULTS
17971, 17983 and 17995 South Airport Way
Manteca, CA 95337
Dear Mr. Fulton:
On August 23, 2002, Aqua Science Engineers, Inc. (ASE) collected
groundwater samples from the domestic well located on your property a t
the I northwest corner of West Yosemite Avenue and Airport Way in
Manteca, California. Water from this well services 17971, 17983 and
17995 South Airport Way. The samples were submitted to Kiff Analytical
Laboratory in Davis, California for analysis. Groundwater samples collected
from the well contained concentrations of methyl-t-butyl ether (MTBE) at
2.7 parts per billion (ppb). The California Department of Health Services
(DHS) has established a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for MTBE in
drinking water of 5 ppb. The MTBE concentration detected in groundwater
samples collected from your well did not exceed the DHS MCL for drinking
water.
Although the MTBE concentration did not exceed the DHS MCL for drinking
water, ASE recommends installing a water treatment system at your
i property. This will eliminate any potential contact with MTBE, even
though the concentrations are very low. Please be advised that this
treatment system installation and related work would be performed at no
cost to you. However, your permission is needed before any work in this
matter can be performed. To date, you have not responded to our letters
or ;phone calls. Please call me at (925) 820-9391 to discuss the current
situation.
If you have any questions regarding the groundwater situation, please
contact Ms. Lori. Duncan of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services at
- (209) 468-3436. ASE would like to continue to sample your well on a
l;rc, l;a "52`, b 9 25 r32-)-91Q f vrax 92-83 X1853
