Mr aqua science
R ur I
engineers
its
JAN o 8 2002
January 4, 2002 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Mr. Juan Robles
17886 South Airport Way
Manteca, CA 95337
SUBJECT: WATER WELL SAMPLING RESULTS
17886 South Airport Way
Manteca, CA 95337
Dear Mr. Robles:
i
On October 30, 2001, Aqua Science Engineers, Inc. (ASE) collected
groundwater samples from the irrigation and domestic wells located on
your property at 17886 South Airport Way in Manteca, California. The
water samples were submitted to Kiff Analytical Laboratory in Davis,
California for analysis.
Groundwater samples collected from your irrigation well contained 0.59
parts per billion (Ppb) methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE). Groundwater
samples collected from your domestic well contained 0.58 ppb MTBE. A
confirmation sample was collected from the domestic well because this w a s
the first time MTBE was detected in that well on your property. The I
confirmation sample was collected on December 6, 2001 and again
contained 0.58 ppb MTBE. The California Department of Health Services
(DHS) has established a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for MTBE in
drinking water of 5 ppb. The MTBE concentration detected in the
groundwater samples collected from your well did not exceed the DHS MCL
for drinking water.
Even though the MTBE concentration detected in the water sample
collected from your domestic well is below the DHS MCL for drinking
water, ASE will be installing a water treatment system for your domestic
well during the month of January. The water treatment system will
eliminate any potential contact with MTBE.
If you have any questions regarding the groundwater situation, please
contact Ms. Lori Duncan of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services at
(209) 468-0337. In addition, ASE would .like to continue to sample your
208 W. F1 Pinrodo, Danville, California 94,526 • 925-820-9391 • Fox 925-837-4853
