Ll qua science <br /> Air• <br /> -� . engineers inc. <br /> April 20, 2001 <br /> Ms Zoe Haworth <br /> 24550 South Brown Road <br /> Manteca, CA 95337 <br /> SUBJECT WATER WELL SAMPLING RESULTS <br /> 17950 South Airport Way <br /> Manteca, CA 95337 <br /> Dear Ms Haworth <br /> On March 13, 2001, Aqua Science Engineers, Inc (ASE) collected water <br /> samples from the domestic well located on your property at 17950 South <br /> Airport Way in Manteca, California The samples were submitted to Kiff <br /> Analytical Laboratory in Davis, California for analysis The water sample <br /> contained 120 parts per billion (ppb) methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) <br /> iand 160 ppb total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) The <br /> California Department of Health Services (DHS) has established a <br /> maximum contaminant level (MCL) for MTBE in drinking water of 5 ppb <br /> The DHS has not yet established a MCL for TPH-G <br /> The laboratory noted that the TPH-G detected in the water sample is <br /> caused by two compounds, 2-butanone and tetrahydrofuran According <br /> to laboratory documentation, these compounds are not typically found in <br /> gasoline but are a common ingredient in PVC pipe glue These compounds <br /> may have originated during the installation of piping used for your well <br /> pump <br /> The MTBE concentrations detected in groundwater samples collected from <br /> your water well exceed drinking water standards Based on these results, <br /> please continue to use the alternate water supplied to your residence until <br /> further notice <br /> 208 W El Pintado, Danville, California 94526 • 925-820.9391 • Fox 925-837-4853 <br />
