i <br /> s aqua science <br /> AEL engineers ince <br /> F 02 <br /> January 30, 2001 <br /> Mr and Mrs Rossi <br /> 495 Airport Way <br /> Manteca, CA 95337 <br /> SUBJECT WATER WELL SAMPLING RESULTS <br /> 511 Airport Way <br /> Manteca, CA 95337 <br /> Dear Mr and Mrs Rossi <br /> On December 19, 2000, Aqua Science Engineers, Inc (ASE) collected <br /> groundwater samples from the domestic well located on your property at <br /> 511 Airport Way in Manteca, California The samples were submitted to <br /> Kiff Analytical Laboratoi y in Davis, California for analysis No samples <br /> • were collected from the well located at 495 Airport Way since a n <br /> alternative water supply is providing water to that property Water <br /> Sample,, from both 495 and 511 Airport Way will be collected next <br /> quarter <br /> Groundwater samples collected from your 511 Airport Way well contained <br /> 160 parts per billion (ppb) methanol, which is a commonly used alcohol <br /> Due to this detection, a confirmation sample was collected from the well <br /> on January 22, 2001 The confiimation sample was also submitted to Kiff <br /> Analytical for analysis No methanol was detected in the confirmation <br /> sample Based on the relatively low methanol concentration in the <br /> original sample, and the fact that no methanol was detected in t h e <br /> confirmation sample, the original detection of methanol does not appear <br /> to be a significant concern at the site No other compounds wei e <br /> detected in the groundwater samples collected <br /> ASE personnel who sampled this well noted that paints and other <br /> chemicals were stoied in the pump house for this well Since alcohols a r e <br /> very volatile compounds, it is possible that alcohol in the air related to <br /> the storage of these paints may have contaminated the original sample <br /> This would be especially likely if the pump house had not been opened for <br /> a significant period of time, allowing vapors to accumulate in the air ASE <br /> recommends that paints and other chemicals not be stored in your pump <br /> 208 W El Pintado Danville Califom+a 94.526 • 925 8209391 • Fox 925 8374853 <br />
