Frank's One Stop 2072 West Yosemite Avenue Manteca California INTRODUCTION On October 23, 2001, the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHSIEHD) sent you a letter Stating that a domestic wellhead treatment system would be installed on your property's well by Aqua Science Engineeis (ASE) as a more permanent solution to pioviding MTBE-flee watet to the house's plumbing system A copy of this letter is included as Appendix A WELLHEAD TREATMENT SYSTEM DESIGN AND INSTALLATLON On Febivaiy 5 and 6, 2002, ASE installed a wellhead tieatment system oil the well located at 17886 Aiipoit Way to remediate low MTBE concentrations previously identified in that well This well supplies water to the tesidents at the property The wellhead tieatment system consists of the existing well pump a n d holding tank which is then plumbed to two 250 pound granulated activated carbon (GAC) canisters ptped in series Untreated watei is removed from the well and stored in the existing holding tank Untreated water leaves the holding tank and enters the GAC canisters prior to entering the plumbing system for the residences on the property Each of the GAC canisters is filled with 250 pounds of virgin 12x30 mesh activated carbon The activated carbon is used as a media for the MTBE molecules to adsorb onto Water leaving the canisters is then free of MTBE At the point in time when the activated carbon can no longer adsorb the MTBE - 1 - 108 IV �i Pintoc tom-i i'le C:ahk)w o 54-52o • >>5 �- �9j9l • Fo,, 91-�83)I �25
