aqua science <br /> -� -, engineers irtc <br /> � ir _ <br /> � � l <br /> January 28, 2002 <br /> Ms Karin Meyer <br /> 370 N Main Street <br /> Manteca, CA 95336 <br /> SUBJECT INSTALLATION OF A DOMESTIC WELLHEAD <br /> TREATMENT SYSTEM, MEYER PROPERTY <br /> 17911 AIRPORT WAY, MANTECA, CA <br /> In i eference to, <br /> Fi ank's One Stop <br /> 2072 West Yosemite Avenue <br /> Manteca, California <br /> INTR_ODUCTION <br /> On October 23, 2001, the San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) Sent you a lettei stating that a <br /> domestic wellhead treatment system would be installed on your <br /> property's well, by Aqua Science Engineers (ASE), as a more permanent <br /> solution to providing MTBE-free watet to the house's plumbing system A <br /> copy of this letter is included as Appendix A <br /> WELLHEAD TRFAIMENT SYSTEM-DESIGN AND INSTALLATION <br /> On December 10 and 11 , 2001 , ASE installed a wellhead treatment system <br /> on the well located at 17911 Aitport Way to i emediate low MTBE <br /> concentiations pieviously identified in that well This well supplies watei <br /> to the residents at the ptopet ty <br /> The wellhead treatment system consists of the existing well pump and <br /> holding tank, which is then plumbed to two 250 pound granulated <br /> activated cai bon (GAC) canisters piped in series Untreated water i s <br /> removed from the well and stoied in the existing holding tank Untreated <br /> water leaves the holding tank and enters the GAC canisters prior to <br /> entering the plumbing system for the i esidences on the property Each o f <br /> the GAC canisters is filled with 250 pounds of virgin 1200 mesh activated <br /> carbon The activated carbon is used as a media tot the MTBE molecules <br /> to adsorb onto Water leaving the canisters is then free of MTBE At t h e <br /> point in time when the activated carbon can no longer adsorb the MTBE <br /> molecules, MTBE will be found in the water stream between the first a n d <br /> 208 W El Pintodo, Danville California 94,526 • 925 82a9391 • Fax 925 8374853 <br />
