214 Airport Way property Boring CPT-20 was located on the east
shoulder of Airport Way in front of 282 Airport Way Boring CPT-21 was
located at 2043 West Yosemite Avenue near the domestic well located on
that property Borings CPT-23 and CPT-24 were located near the northern
and western property lines of 17717 Airport Way Borings CPT-22 a n d
CPT-25 were located on the 17793 Airport Way property Please note that
CPT-25 was originally planned to be drilled on the 17821 Airport Way
property However, due to access problems, this boring was moved onto
the 17793 Airport Way property This borings was, however, drilled only
45-feet from the domestic well on the 17821 Airport Way property
Boring CPT-26 was located on the vacant lot on the northeast corner of
the Airport Way and West Yosemite Avenue intersection
A report explaining the CPT procedures and presenting the CPT logs and
test results is presented in Appendix C
4-3 Soil Sample Collection
During the drilling of soil boring CPT-26, undisturbed soil samples were
collected in several different hydrogeologic units for lithologic and
hydrogeologic description using the Unified Soil Classification System A
. description of these soil samples and a comparison of the geologist's
descriptions to the CPT classification are located in Appendix D The
original scope of work called for the collection of an undisturbed soil
sample from each significantly different unit from one boring, originally
planned for CPT-26 These samples were to be analyzed by a geotechnical
laboratory for permeability, porosity, bulk density, moisture content a n d
organic carbon However, the geotechnical laboratories contacted by ASE
required a 2-inch diameter undisturbed soil sample to complete these
analyses, and 2-inch diameter samples could not be collected with the
CPT drill rig For this reason, this portion of the proposed scope of work
was not completed
4-4 Water Sample Collection
Following the collection of the lithologic information with the initial CPT
boring as described in section 4 2, a second boring was drilled adjacent
to the initial CPT boring for the collection of groundwater samples
Groundwater samples were collected from areas of suspected high
permeability in this second boring At each sampling interval, a
Hydropunch was pushed to the desired sample depth A water level
• meter was then dropped through the rods to verify that there was no
leakage through the rods prior to opening the tip of Hydropunch screen
Franks One Stop Report — March 2001
-ll -
