the groundwater samples collected from boring CPT-21, northeast and
. crossgradient of boring CPT-18 This boring defines the eastern extent of
contamination downgradient of the site Groundwater samples collected
from boring CPT-17, southwest of boring CPT-18, contained 1 2 ppb MTBE
at a depth of 38-feet bgs No MTBE, or any other compound, was
detected in the groundwater samples collected from 16-feet bgs, 63-feet
bgs or 92-feet bgs Similar MTBE concentrations recently were detected
for the first time in groundwater samples collected from domestic wells
located on the west side of 17933 Airport Way and 17971 Airport Way,
both of which are very close to this boring This boring does not define
the full extent of MTBE to the west, but it does define the extent of MTBE
to a relatively low concentration of 1 2 ppb in this down/cross gradient
location Since MTBE was only recently detected in the domestic wells
near this location, this boring appears to roughly define the extent of
MTBE in this direction
No MTBE was detected in groundwater samples collected from boring
CPT-22, the next downgradient boring from CPT-18 The only compounds
detected in groundwater samples collected from boring CPT-22 were 0 51
ppb 1,2-DCA and 0 97 ppb 1,2-DCP from the sample collected from 158-
feet bgs None of the groundwater samples collected from any of the
• shallower zones contained detectable concentrations of any of the
compounds analyzed The domestic well located on this property has
never contained concentrations of any compound analyzed The bottom
of this domestic well is apparently 70-feet bgs, based on information
written on the tank at the well head In addition, no MTBE or any other
compound analyzed was detected in groundwater samples collected from
boring CPT-25, in the rear portion of this property, and near the domestic
well located at 17793 Airport Way These borings appear to define the
extent of MTBE to the northwest, although a trace MTBE concentration
was previously detected in groundwater samples collected from the
domestic well located at 17737 Airport Way No MTBE was detected in
groundwater samples collected from boring CPT-19, crossgradient of
boring CPT-22, however, 22 ppb TBA was detected in the groundwater
sample collected from 15-feet bgs No TBA or MTBE has been detected in
any of the domestic wells in this area except the well located at 2 3 8
Airport Way, north of this boring It is possible that there may b e
another source of MTBE in this area, and it was previously noted that the
pump on the well located at 238 Airport Way was gasoline powered with
the tank adjacent to the open (uncovered) well
The only compound detected in groundwater samples collected from the
• line of borings furthest from the site (borings CPT-20, CPT-23 or CPT-24)
Franks One Stop Report -- March 2001
-20-
