f
1. 1 . 0 RECOMMENDATIONS
ASE recommends the following
f 1 ) Install two additional groundwater monitoring wells, one west of
MW-13 across West Yosemite Avenue from the site to verify the
horizontal extent (width) of the plume downgradient of the site, a n d
' a second well further downgradient of monitoring well MW-13,
possibly in Airport Way, to verify the downgradient extent o f
contamination
2 ) Conduct pumping, vapor extraction and air sparging tests at the site
' as a preparation to preparing a corrective action plan This task will
require the installation of a vapor extraction well, as well as an air
sparging well
' a corrective action plan for the site
3 } Prepare
' 4 ) Continue quarterly groundwater sampling at the site However, ASE
proposes the following modification to the sampling plan
• Monitoring well MW-1 has never contained petroleum
hydrocarbons over DHS MCLS and has only once contained ICE
' above DHS MCLS ASE proposes that this well be sampled on a
semi-annual basis (Spring and Fall)
' . Monitoring well MW-2 has had very consistent results with only
low MTBE and PCE concentrations below DHS MCLS ASE
' recommends that the sampling frequency for this well be reduced
to annual sampling (Spring only)
' • Since variable MTBE and TBA concentrations have been detected
in monitoring well MW-3, ASE recommends that the sampling
frequency foi this well remain quarterly
1
w W-4 and MW-6 have hydrocarbon
Since monitoring els M y
' concentrations exceeding DHS MCLs for drinking water, ASE
recommends that these wells remain on a quarterly sampling
schedule Monitoring well MW-5 should also be sampled on a
quarterly basis anytime that it does not contain free-floating
hydrocarbons
Franks One Stop Report — May 2000
' -15-
