Table 2: Applicable Water Quality Objectives and/or Criteria for the San Joaquin River and 303(D)LISTINGS
Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta(Continued)
Section 303(d)of the Clear Water Act requires States to develop lists of water bodies(or
Most Stringent Water segments of water bodies)that will not attain water quality standards after implementation of
Quality Objective or Criteria minimum required levels of treatment by point-source dischargers(i.e.,municipalities and
Classification Constituent Value Unit Reference industries). Section 303(d)requires States to develop a TMDL for each of the listed pollutant
U.S.EPA National and water body combinations for which there is impairment. A TMDL is the amount of loading
Aluminum,Total 87 gg/L Recommended WQ that the water body can receive and still meet water quality standards for that pollutant. The
Criterion(Chronic)(°) TMDL must include an allocation of allowable loadings for both point and non-point sources,
Arsenic,Dissolved 10 µg/L Basin Plan,Table III-1 with consideration of background loadings and a margin of safety. NPDES permit limitations
Copper,Dissolved 10 Ixg/L Basin Plan,Table III-1 for listed pollutants must be consistent with allocations identified in adopted TMDLs.
Metal Cyanide,Total 5.2 P9/L California Toxics Rule The U.S.EPA partially approved California's 2006 303(d)list on November 20,2006. The U.S.
(Freshwater,Chronic) EPA is still reviewing the State's proposed delisted and do not list waters, but this review does
Iron,Dissolved 300 ftg/L Basin Plan,Table III-1 not affect the current antidegradation analysis. In contrast to the four Delta sub-regions included
Manganese,Dissolved 50 µg/L Basin Plan,Table III-1 in the 2002 303(d)list,the 2006 303(d)list divides the Delta into eight sub-regions,each
California Toxics Rule possessing a set of pollutants/stressors that have been identified as preventing the sub-region
Mercury,Total 0.050 Itg/L (Human Health,Water& from meeting water quality standards.
