Quarterly Summary Report <br /> Third Quarter 1998 <br /> Former Unocal Service Station #5417 , <br /> 1700 East Yosemite Avenue <br /> Manteca, California <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located at 1700 East Yosemite Avenue (State Highway 120) in Manteca, California The site is <br /> an operating service station and mini-mart that retails unleaded gasoline fuel The site currently contains <br /> two gasoline USTs (10,000-gallon) and associated product lines and dispensers <br /> On January 14, 1998, at the direction of Mr Infurna(SJCPHS-EHD), PEG collected seven soil samples <br /> from four locations beneath each product dispenser The soil samples were collected from depths of <br /> approximately 2 to 5-112 feet below ground surface (bgs) The selected soil samples were analyzed for <br /> total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes <br /> (BTEX), and methyl tertiary butyl ether(MtBE) TPH-g (15,000 milligrams per kilograms [mg/kg]) was <br /> detected in sample PD-1 at 2 feet bgs Benzene (48 mg/kg) was detected in sample PD-2 at 2 feet bgs <br /> MtBE (3 9 mg/kg), confirmed by EPA Method 8260, was detected in sample PD-2 at 5-1/2 feet bgs <br /> A soil and groundwater investigation was conducted in three phases, 1) Well Survey, 2) GeoprobeO Soil <br /> and Groundwater Investigation, and 3) Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation The well survey <br /> identified 5 wells within a 5-mile radius of the site No known shallow aquifer drinking water wells are <br /> located within a %Z mile radius of the site PEG installed ten Geoprobes® at the site on July 23 and 24, <br /> 1998 The installation of three groundwater monitoring wells was conducted by PEG on August 20, 1998 <br /> Selected soil samples were submitted to a state certified laboratory and analyzed for TPH-d, BTEX, and <br /> seven oxygenates <br /> RECENT QUARTER ACTIVITIES <br /> • Ten geoprobesO were advanced on July 23 and 24, 1998 <br /> • The installation of groundwater monitoring Wells MW-1, 2, 3, and 4 was conducted on August 20, <br /> 1998 <br /> • Submittal of the Soil and Groundwater Investigation Report <br /> i <br /> ANTICIPATED NEXT QUARTER ACTIVITIES <br /> • Approximately J 62 tons of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil will be transported offsite to <br /> Forward Landfill <br /> • The Fourth Quarter 1998 sampling event will be conducted <br /> CHARACTERIZATION/REMEDIAL STATUS <br />.
