Report on Additional Site Assessment and First Quarter 2000 Monitoring 2 <br /> 7-Eleven, Inc Store#21756 853 E Yosemite Avenue,Manteca CA February 21 2000 <br /> Upon receipt of these findings, the SJCEHD requested Installation of groundwater monitoring wells to <br /> ' verify the presence of dissolved hydrocarbons In groundwater detected during the push-probe <br /> Investigation, and to provide long-term data for use In determining future site actions <br /> 30 SOIL AND GROUNDWATER ASSESSMENT <br /> ' 31 Permitting/Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan <br /> ' Permits for drilling were obtained from San Joaquin County The existing site-specific Health and Safety <br /> Plan was revised for the current scope of work as required by the Occupational Safety and Health <br /> ' Administration Standard Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response guidelines (29 Code of <br /> Federal Regulations 1910 120) The document was reviewed and signed by all IT Corporation personnel <br /> and subcontractors prior to commencement of work at the site <br /> 32 Soil Borings <br /> On December 20, 1999, IT Corporation personnel supervised the drilling of three soil borings to a depth <br /> of 25 feet BGS. utilizing a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 8-inch outside-diameter(O D ) <br /> ' hollow-stem augers All drilling equipment was steam cleaned prior to drilling each boring, and sampling <br /> equipment was washed In an Alconox0 (detergent) solution and rinsed with water between sampling <br /> ' intervals All soil and rinse water generated during the drilling was placed In labeled Department of <br /> Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums and left on the site pending transportation and disposal <br /> ' 33 Soil Sample Collection <br /> Soil samples were collected from each borehole at 5-foot depth intervals from 5 feet bgs to total depth <br /> Samples were collected using a 2-Inch O D California split-spoon sampler, lined with three <br /> 1 5-inch-diameter by 6-inch-long brass tubes The sampler was driven 18 inches ahead of the augers <br /> ' at each sample point Soil samples were field screened for hydrocarbon vapors using a <br /> photo-tonization detector Soil was logged using the Unified Soil Classification System by an IT <br /> ' Corporation field geologist working under the supervision of a California registered geologist <br /> (Appendix A) One sample tube from each sampling interval was sealed, labeled, and placed on Ice In <br /> an insulated container for transport under chain-of-custody to a state-certified laboratory for analysis <br />
