i <br /> Additional Site Assessment Report 2 <br /> 7-Eleven,Inc,Store#21756,853 Yosemite Avenue, Manteca,CA August 13, 1999 <br /> 30 SOIL O L AND GROUNDWATER ASSESSMENT <br /> 31 Permitting/Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan <br /> Permits for drilling were obtained from San Joaquin County The existing site-specific Health and <br /> Safety Plan was revised for the current scope of work as required by the Occupational Safety and <br /> ' Health Administration Standard Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response guidelines (29 <br /> Code of Federal Regulations 1910 120) The document was reviewed and signed by all IT Corporation <br /> personnel and subcontractors prior to commencement of work at the site <br /> ' 32 Soil Borings <br /> Using a truck-mounted hydraulic drill and direct push techniques, sod borings GP-1, GP-2, GP-3, GP-4, <br /> ' and GP-5 (Figure 2) were drilled on June 17, 1999 All drilling equipment was steam cleaned prior to <br /> drilling each boring, and sampling equipment was washed in non-phosphate detergent solution and <br /> rinsed with water between sampling intervals All rinse water generated during the drilling was placed in <br /> labeled Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums and left on the site pending <br /> transportation and disposal by a licensed waste-hauling firm The borings were backfilled to grade with <br /> ' bentonite slurry after sampling, and were patched at grade to match the surrounding surface <br /> ' 33 Soil Sample Collection <br /> ' Sod samples were collected from each borehole using a 2-inch O D California split-spoon sampler, <br /> lined with three 1 5-inch-diameter by 6-inch-long brass tubes The sampler was driven 18 inches <br /> ahead of the push rods at each sample point at 4-foot intervals starting at 2 feet below grade Soil <br /> ' samples were field screened for hydrocarbon vapors using a photo-ionization detector Soil was <br /> logged using the Unified Sod Classification System by an IT Corporation field geologist working under <br /> ' the supervision of a California registered geologist(Appendix A) One sample tube from each <br /> sampling interval was sealed, labeled, and placed on ice in an insulated container for transport under <br /> chain-of-custody to a state-certified laboratory for analysis <br /> 1 ' <br /> Each soil sample was analyzed for BTEX and TPH-G by EPA Methods 8015/8020 Methyl-tert-butyl <br /> ' ether(MTBE) and other oxygenates were analyzed using EPA Method 8260 <br />
