August 10, 1998 FLUOR DANIEL GTI <br /> i <br /> Mr Bob DeNinno <br /> The Southland Corporation <br /> 10220 S W Greenburg Road, Suite 470 <br /> Portland, Oregon 97233 <br /> RE Executive Summary <br /> Southland Store (7-Eleven) No 21756 <br /> 853 E Yosemite Avenue <br /> Manteca, California <br /> Dear Mr Knoll <br /> The following includes a summary of proposed activities to be completed at the subject site <br /> Background <br /> The subject site is located on the northwest corner of East Yosemite Avenue and Powers Avenue <br /> intersection in Manteca (Attachment 1, Figures 1 and 2) The site is owned by The Southland <br /> Corporation and currently contains three 10,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) <br /> and associated fuel dispensers <br /> An Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized Release(Leak)/Contamination Site Report has been filed <br /> for the site, however, to date, no environmental investigations have been conducted at the site <br /> Underground Storage Tank Removal/installation <br /> During August or early September 1998, the Southland Corporation plans to remove the three 10,000 <br /> gallon single-walled steel USTs at the site and associated fuel dispensers and replace them with one <br /> 15,000-gallon and one 10,000-gallon double-walled steel tanks and new fuel dispensers During . <br /> removal of the existing USTs an estimated 150 cubic yards of tank overburden material will be removed <br /> and stockpiled on site The soil material will be sampled for proper characterization The material will <br /> either be transported from the site by a licensed waste hauler to an approved disposal facility or used <br /> as backfill material Sod samples will be collected beneath each end of the three USTs and <br /> associated product piping at the direction and observation of the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> 21756EXE LTR <br /> 757 Arnold Drive, Suite D /Martinez, CA 94553 USA (510) 370-3990 FAX (510) 370-3991 <br />
