WORK PLAN FOR ACTIVE SOIL GAS SAMPLING <br /> FRENCH CLEANERS <br /> 416 West Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, California <br /> 1.0. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK <br /> In accordance with the request ofMs.Francis Lee ofFrench Cleaners,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, <br /> Inc. (AGE) has prepared this Work Plan for Active Soil Gas Sampling at 416 West Yosemite <br /> Avenue, Manteca, California(the site). <br /> The scope of work is to determine if the site is a source of tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and <br /> trichloroethylene(TCE) and will include the advancement of at least five soil probes to a depth of <br /> 15 feet below surface grade(bsg). Soil gas samples will be collected from each probe and analyzed <br /> by a State-certified laboratory.Soil samples will also be collected from eachprobing and,based upon <br /> results of the soil gas samples, selected soil samples may be submitted for analysis.The location of <br /> the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2. <br /> This work plan is prepared in accordance with a request of the Central Valley Regional Water <br /> Qaulity Control Board (CVRWQCB) and guidelines established by the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD) for subsurface site investigations. <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND AND HISTORICAL SITE USAGE <br /> The site is located at 416 West Yosemite Avenue, east of the intersection of Yosemite Avenue and <br /> Jessie Street.The site is located in a topographically flat area at an elevation between 30 and 35 feet <br /> above mean sea level in Manteca, San Joaquin County, California. The site is within the northeast <br /> quarter of Section 5, Township 2 South,Range 7 East,Mount Diablo Base and Meridian(Manteca <br /> Quadrangle, 7.5-Minute USGS Topographic Series, 1952,photo revised 1987). <br /> The site is presently occupied by a dry cleaning establishment. A gasoline fueling station and <br /> mini-mart is located immediately west of the site;the Rainwater site is presently undergoing ground <br /> water remediation associated with a release from underground storage tanks (USTs). Adjacent <br /> properties to the south are primarily residential;properties north and east are utilized primarily for <br /> commercial purposes. <br /> 2.1. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> The site is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of California, a large, elongate, <br /> northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough. The Great Valley Province has been filled with <br /> thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to Recent, creating a nearly flat-lying <br /> alluvial plain, extending from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains in <br /> the north.The western and castem boundaries of this province are comprised of the California Coast <br /> Advanced GwEnvironmental,Inc. <br />
