11 December 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 03-1109
• Soil sample collection;
• Review and Analysis of soil vapor data and
• Report preparation.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the SJCEHD. In addition, a site specific
health and safetyplanwillbeprepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance
Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to
mobilization, each proposed monitoring well location will be clearly marked and an utility clearance
obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. PROBING AND COLLECTION OF SOIL GAS SAMPLES
The scope work includes the advancement of five probe borings. Soil gas samples will be collected
from each probe boring.Additionally, discrete soil samples willbe collected from each probe boring.
Soil samples will be collected from the site based on field indications.AGE will obtain soil samples
at the 5-foot interval. Soil samples will be retained at the laboratory for potential future analysis.
Procedures for soil gas and soil sample collection and analysis are detailed in Sections 4.2. and 4.3.,
respectively.
Each probe boring will be advanced to depths of 15 feet bsg. Soil gas samples will be collected from
each probe boring. Samples will be transmitted to a State-certified laboratory and analyzed for
volatile organic compounds (including PCE).
3.3. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
All sampling tools and probe rods used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean
water after washing with a solution of Alconox.
3.4. LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Soil vapor samples will be analyzed for PCE in accordance with EPA method 8260. Laboratory
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
