AGE-NC Project No 97-0333 <br /> ' Page 5 of 10 <br /> 3 <br /> ' The multi-level monitoring wells MW-7 through MW-13 were purged utilizing a Watera Hydro-Lift <br /> H pump equipped with a mechanical arm by lowering and raising a3/8-inch outer diameter, length- <br /> discrete polyethylene hose equipped with a ball-valve water tip through the top chambers into the <br /> ' specific water-charged screened section Approximately%Z to 5 gallons of ground water(a minimum <br /> of three casing-water volumes per well) were purged from the multi-level monitoring wells <br /> Temperature,pH and conductivity were measured for stabilization at regular purge-volume intervals <br /> ' from each well using an Oakton water analyzer Field data and logs are provided in Appendix D <br /> Multi-level well purged ground water was transferred to the ground water remediation system <br /> holding tank for treatment and disposal <br /> 32 GROUND WATER SAMPLING <br /> Ground water samples were collected from the purged wells MW-1 through MW-6 utilizing new, <br /> P P g � <br /> 2-inch diameter disposable polyethylene bailers, ground water samples were collected from the <br /> purged wells MW-7 through MW-13 utilizing 3/S-inch diameter polyethylene tubing Ground water <br /> samples were transferred into one-liter amber bottles without a preservative and into 40-m1 EPA- <br /> approved volatile organic analysis(VOA)vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample <br /> preservative Care was taken to ensure that visible air bubbles were not present in the vials after <br /> filling and capping Ground water sample containers were labeled with the well designation, date, <br /> time, and sampler's initials <br /> 33 LABORATORY ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> Each ground water sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form,placed in a chilled container and <br /> ' transported to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories, a California Department of Health Services <br /> (DHS)-certified laboratory for analysis for <br /> • TPH-g by EPA Methods 5030/8015M, <br /> 1 • BTEX by EPA Method 8021, and <br /> • Volatile organic compounds, including PCE, TCE, 1,2-DCA, EDB,MTBE, TAME,DIPE, <br /> ETBE and TBA by EPA Method 8260 Modified <br /> Advanced Gen Environmental,Inc <br />
