Box 2009
Stockton CA 95201
FORMER TEXACO SERVICE STATION, 941 EAST YOSEMITE AVENUE, MANTECA -
QUARTERLY GROUND WATER MONITORING REPORT
We have reviewed the 24 January 1990 Quarterly Ground Water Monitoring
Report prepared for this site by Applied Geos stems. The report includes
the analytical results for the first quartor of a one-year quarterly
ground water monitoring program, as recommen ed by Applied Geosystems.
We have previously commented on this proposal by letter, dated 20 November
1989, and we recommended that the responsible party be requested to
conduct additional investigations including installation of an additional
ground water monitoring well near the former tank location, in the
verified downgradient direction.
We have no record of the responsible party' response to this request.
Although the levels of petroleum hydrocarbonlIs detected in the existing
monitoring wells (3 to 4 parts per billio> benzene in MW--2) are not
extremely high, these results indicate that g ound water beneath the site
has been impacted by discharges of petroleum hydrocarbons.. Based on our
review of the available information, the existing ground water monitoring
wells are not sufficient to adequately deternine impact to ground water
beneath the site. Therefore, additional investigation will be necessary
to determine whether ground water remedia ion will be necessary to
adequately address the petroleum hydrocarbon ollution of ground water at
this site.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) ..361-5731 .
THOMAS D.
