Sox 2009
Stockton CA 95201
FORMER TEXACO SERVICE STATION, 941 EASE )OSEMITE AVENUE, KANTECA
CONTAMINATED 50).L EXCAVATION REPORT
We have reviewed the 26 October :989 report of contaminated soil
excavation, prepared by Applied Ceosystems for this site. The report
includes the analytical results for verification samples obtained after
aeration of the contaminated soil .
Significant reductions in hydrocarbon levels were reported after- the soil
aeration treatment. Although the samples w re not analyzed by the most
appropriate method available; we believe tha the analytical results are
valid and that there has been a significant reduction in the levels of
hydrocarbon contamination. Therefore, backfilling the excavation with the
treated soil should not pose any additional threat to the beneficial uses
of this ground water. However, because hydrocarbons have been detected
in ground water at this site, additional monitoring will be necessary to
adequately assess the impacts to ground water from the previous discharges
at this site:
The operator should be requested to submit a comprehensive ground water
:monitoring plan For this Site. This plan should include, but not be
limited to, an additional ground water' monitoring well to be located near
the former .tank location, in the verified downgradient direction. in
addition, quarterly sampling of all the on-site monitoring wells Should
be included in the monitoring plan.
if you have any questions, please call mea (916) 361-5731 .
THOMAS D.
