THESE TANKS ARE <br /> PLUMBED TO BE USED IN ALTERNATE FASHION ( i .e. , ONE <br /> IS FILLING WHILE THE OTHER IS HOLDING WATER FOR <br /> SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS PRIOR TO DISCHARGE) . <br /> I ) THE CONTENTS OF THE ACCUMULATION TANKS ARE SAMPLED <br /> WHILE FILLING AND ALSO WHEN FULL. WHEN ONE <br /> ACCUMULATION TANK IS FULL, THE FLOW IS SWITCHED <br /> OVER TO THE OTHER TANK AND THE FIRST ONE IS <br /> SAMPLED AND ANALYZED FOR METALS. THE PROCESS IS <br /> REVERSED WHEN THE OTHER TANK IS FULL. <br /> IF THE METALS ARE BELOW DISCHARGE LIMITS, THE <br /> CONTENTS OF THE FULL ACCUMULATION TANK ARE PUMPED <br /> TO THE FINAL RECEIVING TANK (SEE BLOCK DIAGRAM, <br /> ATTACHMENT C-1 , PAGE 1 ) . IF THE METAL <br /> CONCENTRATION IN THE TANK IS TOO HIGH, THE <br /> CONTENTS ARE PUMPED BACK TO THE WRT FOR <br /> RE-TREATMENT. <br /> J ) THE SLUDGE THAT COLLECTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE <br /> CLARIFIERS IS PUMPED INTO THE SATT, AND THEN, <br /> AFTER A SUITABLE SETTLING TIME, TO THE FILTER <br /> PRESS. THE EXCESS WATER THAT IS PRESSED OUT OF <br /> THE SLUDGE IS FED BACK INTO THE WRT TO GO THROUGH <br /> THE CWTS AGAIN. <br /> K) AFTER EACH SLUDGE RUN, THE FILTER PRESS IS OPENED <br /> UP AND THE SLUDGE SCRAPED OFF THE PLATES INTO THE <br /> BIN. THIS COLLECTION BIN IS THEN TRANSFERRED BY <br /> FORKLIFT TO NYLON "SUPER SACKS" FOR SHIPMENT OFF <br /> SITE. THESE SACKS ARE STORED IN THE OUTSIDE <br /> BERMED AREA AND ARE REGULARLY PICKED UP AND <br /> SHIPPED TO A RECYCLER FOR METALS RECOVERY. <br />
