These rinses and bath dumps are then slowly
metered by gravity feed to the FRDT .
K) The treated water in the FRDT from the accumulation tanks
(Steps H & I ) and developer rinses & bath dumps (Step J )
is pH adjusted with mixing , then discharged to the city
sewer through a 4" leader pipe and a 4" Palmer-Bowlus
flume to measure the flow rate and accumulate the total
gallons through the system. It then flows through a
lowered section of pipe ( "Saddle" ) containing a pH
monitor for final monitoring and on through the 4"
discharge line to the city sewer .
L ) The sludge that collects at the bottom of the clarifiers
is pumped into the SPT, and then , after a suitable
settling time , to the filter press . The excess water
that is pressed out of the sludge is fed back into the
WRT to go through the CWTS again .
M) After each sludge run , the filter press is opened up and
the sludge scraped off the plates into the bin . When
this bin is full , it is transferred directly to reusable
plastic bins for shipment offsite . These bins are stored
in the outside bermed area and are regularly picked up
and shipped to a recycler for metals recovery .
