The following items were found on a sales rack labeled Reduced Merchandise(IMG 6571,6573-8):
a.A Hazardous Waste bag containing a leaky partially filled bottle of Alberto V05 3-in-1 shampoo conditioner body
wash, marked with a reduced price of 50 cents. When Adrienne scanned the item, the hand-held scanner stated the
item was not hazardous. However, according to the pre-printed HW label on the State-Regulated, Toxics, Electronics,
OTC Pharmaceuticals, Universal Waste(STOU)HW tote, soaps and shampoos are listed as contents of the STOU
category.Adrienne added absorbent to the bag to absorb the leaked liquid, marked the bag with STOU, and placed
the bagged item into an STOU HW tote.
3. The following items were found not properly labeled and in an open container sitting on top of a stack of cardboard
boxes in the store's back storage area(IMG 6613-5,6622-34):
a.A Hazardous waste bag containing GS Neutral Cleaner Concentrate packets.Adrienne was unable to scan the
cleaner packets since the item is not an item sold by the store, but rather is ordered by Dollar Tree to clean the
store's floors.Adrienne placed the cleaner packets into a CB HW tote based on the Guide stating that floor cleaners
(retail and store supply)are to be placed in an CB HW tote.
b.A HW bag containing a seemingly empty 56 fl oz container of Magic Power Lavender Multi-Surface Cleaner.
Adrienne placed the cleaner into a CB HW tote.
c.A HW bag containing a seemingly empty 0.17 oz package of Lysol gel toilet bowl cleaner. The hand held
scanner stated the cleaner should be placed in an STOU HW tote. However, according to the Guide, toilet bowl
cleaners without bleach are to be placed in an Corrosive Acids(CA) HW tote.Adrienne placed the toilet bowl cleaner
package into a CA HW tote.
d.A HW bag containing a solid air freshener.Adrienne placed the air freshener into an STOU HW tote based on
the Guide stating that solid air fresheners are to be placed in an STOU HW tote.
e.A HW bag containing a package of Blue&Bleach toilet bowl cleaner tablets.Adrienne placed the bleach tablets
into an OX HW tote based on the Guide stating that toilet bowl tablets with bleach are to be placed in an OX HW tote.
All hazardous waste shall be in a closed container and all hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all times
except when adding or removing waste.
Immediately ensure all hazardous waste is in a closed container and ensure all hazardous waste containers are
closed when not adding or removing waste.
This was corrected on site.
This is a Class II violation.
FA0022370 PR0539306 SCO01 05/24/2019
EHD 22-01 Rev.09/27/2018 Page 9 of 12 Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator OIR
1868 E.
