Mr. Ron Valinot
February 15, 19
2 1
Page
U110201hil -8 , 0 . 00-2w.Alk 0 a I
and that our commitment for compliance by this plan is proven by
decisions presently being made for a circumstance that developed
over a considerable period of time.
The other items listed in your January 26, 1989, letter have
already been noticed to our contractor without waiting for this
plan on tonnage reduction.
Would you please clarify some background for this Facility
Permit? In 1977 the permit allowed 605,800 cubic yards, and when
renewed in 1983, changed to 280 tons per day. Could there have
been a questionable conversion made in converting yards to tons
at that time? Based on from 850 to 1000 pounds of waste per
cubic yard and 5 to 5.5 days per week, I find that to allow 900
to 1059 tons per day in 1977. If a bad conversion was made, it
would seem appropriate to make a correction rather than impose an
unrealistic limitation. Please investigate this matter with
State officials and provide the City with a response on this
matter.
We appreciate your assistance in helping us get matters in order
and for clarifying the earlier facility •-
B
BROY RI
ACTING DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
