3.2 Carbonaceous Biochemical Oxygen Demand
The carbonaceous five day biochemical oxygen demand (CBOD5)analyses were completed using the{EPA
Method 405.11. The results of the analyses Meted on the samples collected during the testing are
shown in Figure 1.
Influent CBOD,:
The influent CBOD,,ranged from 48 to 290 mg/L during the evaluation,with an average ooncer►traffon of 156
mg/L and a median concentration of 150 mg/L.
Effluent CBOD,:
The effluent CBOD, concentrations ranged from less than 2 to 62 mg/L over the course of the evaluation,
with an average concentration of 6 mg/L. The median effluent CBOD, concentration was 3 mg/L.
Standard 40 requires that over the course of the evaluation, the effluent CBOD, not exceed 40 mg/L on a
7-day average or 25 mg1L on a 30-day average. Table II shows the 7 and 30 day average effluent CBOD
concentrations and the.SO-day average influent CBOD concentrations.
The 7-day average effluent CBOD,,ranged from 2 to 40 mg/L. The-30-day average ranged from 2 to 22
mg/L. As shown in Table 11, the EnviroServer 600 met the requirements of Standard 40 for effluent CBOD,.
3.3 Suspended Solids
Suspended solids and volatile suspended solids analyses were completed using Methods 209C and 209D
of Standard Methods. The results of the suspended solids analyses over the-entire evaluartiorr'are shown
in Figure 2. Data from the°suspended solidsanalyses are summarized in Table I.
Influent suspended solids:
The influent~suspended`solids ranged from 110 to 590 mg/L during the._evaluatlon,`with an average
concentration of 229 mgk'`Themedian Influent suspended solids ooncentrabon during the..evaluation was
210img/L. er
Effluent Suspended Solids:
The effluent suspended solids concentration ranged from less than 2`to 45 mg/L during the-evaluation, with;'
an average concentration of 8 mg/L and a median concentratlo'n of 6 mg/L,
Over the course of the evaluation, ANSIINSF Standard 40 requires that the effluent suspended solids not -
exceed 45 mg/L on a 7-day average or 30 mg/L on a 30-day average. Table III shows the 7-and 30-day
suspended solids averages.
The 7-day average suspended solids ranged from 3 to 30 mg/L and the 30-day averages ranged from 6 to
16 mg/L. As shown in Table III, the EnviroServer 600 met the requirements of ANSIINSF Standard 40 for
effluent suspended solids.
99116/20151080 This report try not be reproduced In whole or in part Page 12 of 43
Final Report without the expressed written consent of NSF International: Apd1 2000
