22
C
ONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
test results for this sampling event indicate slight reductions in the ammonia nitrogen, TKN
pH constituents between the second compartment of the septic tank and all three
nv iroServers. The nitrate-nitrogen concentration was non-detect(ND), but the intermediary
nitrite-nitrogen was present.
The BOD test has significant limitations that may be the cause of the extraordinary test results.
First, the arbitrary 5-day period does not always correspond with the point where all of the waste
material is consumed. Therefore, it is unknown as to where the 5-day BOD value exists on the
curve. Secondly, the requirements of acclimated seed and the potential for nitrification to occur
are questionable. Thirdly, BOD is an aggregate parameter, meaning the individual waste
constituents that constitute the measured BOD value are unknown. Any, or all of these
limitations may prove the reason for the high test results.
The Automatic Distributing Valve (ADV) will be cleaned and serviced when Flow Meter#1 is
replaced, and again in the Fall when the 2°d biannual inspection will occur. The ADV may be
replaced if inspection warrants replacement. As referenced, the faulty Flow Meter#1 will be
replaced as soon as possible.
If there should be any questions regarding the information contained within this Report, please
contact the undersigned.
Respectfully submitted, pFESs
CHESNEY ENGINEERING, INC. <pr CHSq
 Z
C 75479 rn
Don Chesney, PE sqr CIVIL
Registered Civil Engineer#C75479 OF CA1Fo
Page -3-
Chesney Engineering, Inc.
