Environmental Health Department <br />AMENDED <br />12/9/2019 <br />Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator Inspection Report <br />Date: <br />December 04, 2019 <br /> Facility Address: <br /> 2477 Naglee Rd, Tracy <br /> Facility Name: <br /> PetSmart #1164 <br />SUMMARY OF VIOLATIONS <br />(CLASS I, CLASS II, or MINOR - Notice to Comply) <br />RemarksItem # <br /> 404 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to inspect hazardous waste storage areas at least weekly. <br />OBSERVATION: At the time of inspection, it could not be demonstrated that the facility's hazardous waste <br />containers are adequately inspected weekly, based on the following observations: <br />1. The most recent completed waste storage area weekly inspection checklist, found in the Petsmart Hazardous <br />Material Disposal Process Binder in the hazardous waste storage area, was dated 12/10/2018. According to Marie <br />Balingit, Customer Engagement Leader, and Tawnya Jeffcoat, Merchandise Inventory Leader, John Thorpe is the <br />primary employee who manages the hazardous waste storage area and conducts the weekly inspections. <br />According to the Petsmart Retail Hazardous Products Disposal Program Training document in the binder, the <br />storage manager is to complete the waste storage area weekly inspection checklists and maintain the completed <br />checklists in the binder for the past 3 years. Completed inspection checklists dated after 12/10/2018 were not <br />found at the time of inspection. <br />2. The waste storage area weekly inspection checklists dated 12/10/2018, 7/12/2018, and 4/21/2018 indicated <br />that the hazardous waste containers were not properly closed, without stating/indicating what corrective actions <br />were implemented to correct the issue. <br />REGULATION GUIDANCE: The owner or operator shall inspect areas used for container storage or transfer, at <br />least weekly, looking for leaking containers and for deterioration of containers and the containment system caused <br />by corrosion or other factors. <br />CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately, begin conducting adequate weekly inspections of the facility's hazardous <br />waste containers.
