' BLAINE TECH SERVICES, INC SANJ05E SACRAMENTO LOS ANGELES SAN DIEGO
Immediately recharge Wells that dewater will be sampled (see Section 9) once they have
recharged to 80% of their original static water level or when we are prepared to leave the site
' provided at least one hour has passed
All calculations, quantities of water removed, parameter measurements and relevant times
' associated with the purging process are contemporaneously recorded on the ARCO/BP Well
Monitoring Data sheet
' 7. NO-PURGE METHODOLOGY
Wells that qualify for No-Purge sampling are sampled without purging and are sampled using
' the protocols described below for Sample Collection
' 8. COLLECTION OF DISSOLVED OXYGEN (DO) MEASUREMENTS
At ARCO Heritage sites, a DO measurement Is collected at all sampled wells Immediately at the
end of purging (if applicable) and prior to sampling The measurement Is collected using an
electronic meter (YSI Model 51 , 58, 95 or equivalent) Water Is drawn from the well using a
disposable bailer, placed in a clean cup with the meter probe and the measurement collected
' The meter Is calibrated between wells as per the manufacturers specifications
If requested, DO measurements are collected at BP Heritage sites prior to and/or at the
completion of purging using down-hole collection methodology The probe of the meter
'0
described above is lowered into the well and suspended Just below the water column The
measurement Is collected once stabilized
' All DO measurements are contemporaneously recorded on the ARCO/BP Well Monitoring Data
sheet
' 9 SAMPLE COLLECTION
' COLLECTION
All samples are collected using disposable bailers The bailer Is gently lowered Into the well to
minimize agitation or aeration of the water The bailer Is filled and emptied prior to filling sample
' containers If Dissolved Oxygen measurements were collected at the well after purging, the
same bailer may be reused for sample collection New Nitrile gloves are donned immediately
prior to sampling Bailers and their associated cord are used once and then discarded
' PARAMETERS
One set of groundwater parameter measurements (electrical conductivity, pH, and temperature)
Is collected at time of sample
' CONTAINERS
Sample material Is decanted directly from the bailer Into sample containers provided by the
' laboratory that will analyze the samples The transfer of sample material from the bailer to the
tSTANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES—BP/ARCO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Page 5
