Site Characterization Report <br /> ABF Freight System,Inc <br /> Manteca,California page 4 <br /> • Samples submitted to the laboratory were accompanied by the proper chain of custody <br /> documentation The chain of custody form was properly signed and the date of collection and <br /> shipment recorded, along with the sample site identification and requested analyses for each <br /> sample The laboratory used a cooler receipt form to document the condition of samples on <br /> arrival at the laboratory <br /> 3 3 3 Field Monitoring Instrumentation <br /> Soil Samples collected during the drilling operations were screened using a PID Prior to use, <br /> the PID was calibrated to 0 and 100 ppm isobutylene standards The PID battery was charged <br /> daily, and the calibration information was documented daily in the field notebook <br /> 3 3 4 Laboratory QA/2C <br /> The laboratory QA/QC program consisted of calibration and analyzing duplicate samples, <br /> method blanks, matrix spike/matrix spike duplicates (MS/MSD), and evaluating surrogate <br /> recoveries The laboratory QA/QC program is summarized with the laboratory analytical reports <br /> in Appendix 7 <br /> 3.4 Equipment Decontamination <br /> . All drilling and soil sampling equipment was cleaned using a high-pressure hot water washer <br /> between each boring The decontamination activities were conducted over a catch basin and the <br /> rinsate water was stored in a 55 gallon drum Soil sampling equipment and water level <br /> measuring equipment were decontaminated between sampling events Since all groundwater <br /> sampling was conducted with disposable bailers, no decontamination of groundwater sampling <br /> equipment was necessary <br /> 3.5 Site Restoration <br /> The installation of the monitoring wells included the placement of Christy Boxes over the top of <br /> the PVC casing The Christy Boxes were placed flush with the ground surface and cemented in <br /> 3.6 Waste Handling and Disposal <br /> Wastes generated as part of the soil and groundwater sampling activities were placed in DOT- <br /> approved 55-gallon steel drums and stored onsite pending receipt of analytical results The <br /> drums were labeled designating the generator as "ABF Freight System, Inc " <br /> Following completion of laboratory analyses, all soil and water waste was disposed of on site At <br /> the request of ABF Freight System, Inc the soil was moved to a portion of the property along the <br /> eastern fence line that consisted of dirt and overgrown weeds, where the soil and water were <br /> spread out over the ground <br /> 11SERVERIIC-DRIVEIPROJECTSl32721P1ans and ReportslAi3F Freight Site Characterization Closure Report doc 11/17/98 <br />
