Site Characterization Work Plan <br /> ABF Freight System,Inc. <br /> Manteca,California Page 6 <br /> . 5.0 FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> 5.1 Introduction <br /> A detailed description of each proposed task for the completion of the Phase I Site Assessments <br /> is presented in the following sections <br /> 5.2 Regulatory File Review and Receptor Survey <br /> CAL INC proposes to conduct a regulatory file review and receptor survey for the lands <br /> surrounding the ABF site The regulatory file review will include the review of State, County, <br /> and Local records for information on potential soil and groundwater contamination attributed to <br /> neighboring and surrounding properties The receptor survey will include the review of State, <br /> County, and Local records for potential sensitive ground and/or surface water receptors of diesel <br /> contamination associated with the former UST site Department of Water Resources well boring <br /> logs will be reviewed to identify drinking water wellsm the vicinity of the subject site <br /> 5.3 Underground Utility Clearance <br /> Prior to commencement of drilling activities, an underground utility clearance will be conducted <br /> The purpose of the underground utility clearance is to identify all subsurface utilities located on <br /> the site The utility clearance will consist of notifying Underground Service Alert (USA), who <br /> . will provide a list of potential agencies and utility companies, which have underground utilities <br /> in the area <br /> 5.4 Soil and Groundwater Sampling Program <br /> CAL INC proposes to conduct a soil and groundwater investigation to assess the vertical and <br /> lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in soil and groundwater The goal of the <br /> soil and groundwater investigation is to collect sufficient quantitative data so that <br /> recommendations for either site closure or remedial action can be presented to the PHS/EHD and <br /> SWRCB The investigation will include the drilling and installation of four monitoring wells <br /> The proposed monitoring well locations will include one well in/or adjacent to the former 10,000 <br /> gallon UST excavation pit, two wells hydraulically down gradient from the excavation site, and <br /> one well hydraulically upgradient from the excavation site The direction of groundwater flow <br /> and the final locations of the monitoring wells will be determined through regulatory file review <br /> of groundwater elevations and flow directions recorded from wells in the vicinity of the subject <br /> site Prior to drilling, permits for completing monitoring wells will be obtained from PHS/EHD <br /> The purpose of monitoring well installation is to evaluate the vertical and lateral extent of <br /> petroleum Hydrocarbons in the vicinity of the former 10,000 gallon UST Characterization of <br /> any off-site soil or groundwater contamination is beyond the scope of this work plan <br /> The monitoring wells will be drilled using 8-inch diameter hollow stem auger equipment and <br /> will be complete to 25 feet in depth All of the wells will be screened from 5 feet to <br /> . approximately 25 feet below ground surface Soil samples will be collected with depth using a <br /> 1\SERVERIIC-DRIVE\PROJECTS\32721P1ans and Reports\ABF Final Site Characterization Work Plan doc <br /> 6123198 <br />
