Environmental Health Department <br />Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator Inspection Report <br />Date: <br />July 08, 2019 <br /> Facility Address: <br /> 405 GANDY DANCER DR, TRACY <br /> Facility Name: <br /> Knapheide Truck Equipment Company <br />SUMMARY OF VIOLATIONS <br />(CLASS I, CLASS II, or MINOR - Notice to Comply) <br />RemarksItem # <br /> 102 CCR 66262.11 Failed to determine if a waste is a hazardous waste. <br />Metal fines generated from sheet cutter machine found near the hazardous waste storage area are being recycled as <br />scrap metal without first determining particle size or hazardous properties. <br />Any person who generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately stop recycling <br />metal fines, make a hazardous waste determination for the metal fines , and manage it according to Title 22 <br />hazardous waste regulations. Particles 100 microns or smaller must be handled as hazardous waste if the metal is <br />determined to be a hazardous waste. <br />Please submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br />This is a minor violation. <br />Overall Inspection Comments: <br />Complete and submit a copy of the Return to Compliance Certification form to the EHD with a statement <br />documenting the corrective actions that have been or will be taken for each violation, and any supporting <br />paperwork, by AUGUST 7th 2019. <br />Inspector provided: Return to compliance certification, Hazardous waste label sticker, free cupa classes flier <br />Waste streams observed: used oil, waste paint, laundered rags, metal fines <br />Note: <br />- One black 55 gallon container of waste paint observed in the hazardous waste storage area with no <br />accumulation start date, no hazardous waste properties, and Name and address not completed. This was <br />corrected by Manager of the facility. <br />- 3 metal pans observed with used oil in them with no label and no lid in the hazardous waste storage area. The <br />foreman stated that the oil was from today, he transferred the used oil into a 5 gallon container and attached a <br />hazardous waste label sticker on it.
