The OWTS is engineer-designed using pressure distribution system to mitigate the
potential long term impact of Nitrate-Nitrogen on groundwater for a proposed second unit dwelling
residence on a 1.49 acres lot. The engineer-designed system is approved with following conditions:
1. The size of the filter bed is determined by multiplying the required length of leach line by three
(3) in sandy soils and four (4) in clay soils, not based on perc rate obtained.
2. In nitrate loading study, the 200 gpd for a three-bedroom second unit dwelling is used to
determine the potential long term impact of Nitrate. It is not to be used for septic system
design. According to San Joaquin County Local Agency Management Program (LAMP), the
septic system is designed based on 150 gpd per bedroom.
3. The engineer on record shall determine the volume, the frequency and the duration of dosing.
The operational parameters for the control panel shall be programmed accordingly.
4. All equipment shall be maintained in accordance with manufacturer's recommendation.
5. The system shall have audible and visual alarm.
6. Obtain engineer designed system permit prior installation.
If you have any questions please contact Michael Kith, Program Coordinator, at mkith@sjgov.org or
(209) 468-3444.
Mi hael Kith, REHS
Program Coordinator
C: Dennis Souza (27420 South Walnut Court, Tracy, Ca 95304)
1868 E.
