Environmental cleanup using groundwater extraction and treatment, and soil vapor
extraction was conducted from October 2000 through December 2003 to remove
petroleum from both soils and groundwater underlying the Frank's One Stop
property. While MTBE concentrations in groundwater at the site decreased
significantly, MTBE detected in domestic water supply wells north along Airport
Way have continued to be impacted.
The City of Manteca has installed a water line under Airport Way to provide residents
with public water. Central Valley Water Board staff is proposing to oversee construction
of 19 groundwater monitoring wells west of and along Airport Way (see map figure).
Once an accurate boundary of the groundwater pollution is determined we plan to
propose proper destruction of impacted domestic wells and offer hook up to selected
residents to municipal water. After 15 May 2014, Central Valley Water Board staff
intends to complete its review process and based on feedback, move towards
construction of the monitoring well network. Access to private properties for the purpose
of constructing the wells will be pursued with the individual land owners.
WHERE DO I GET MORE INFORMATION?
General Information regarding the site can be obtained from the GeoTracker web site
at: http-//geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov/ and the case file for the site is available for
review at the Central Valley Water Board main office located at 11020 Sun Center Drive
#200, Rancho Cordova, California 95670.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
Any interested individual has the opportunity to learn more about the case by submitting
comments to James Barton with the Central Valley Water Board by 15 May 2014.
Mr. Barton can be reached at (916) 464-4615, via e-mail at
jim.barton@waterboards.ca.gov or in writing at 11020 Sun Center Drive #200, Rancho
Cordova, California 95670.
