R5-2003-0713, FRANK'S ONE STOP, 2072 WEST YOSEMITE AVENUE, _
MANTE CA, SAN JOAO UIN CO UNTY
In August 2003 the Executive Officer of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board issued Cleanup and Abatement Order No. R5-2003-0713 (Order) for the former Frank's
One Stop at 2072 Yosemite Avenue. The Order directed the responsible parties to investigate and
remediate the effects of an earlier gasoline release from the station's underground storage tanks.
In addition, the Order required the responsible parties to conduct periodic monitoring of the
nearby domestic wells.
Samples taken on December 2nd 2004 found very low levels of MtBE (0.53 and 0.57 µg2) in the
domestic wells at 18202 and 18142 S. Airport Way respectively. The presence of MTBE was
confirmed in follow-up samples taken on December 15th (see enclosed copies of the laboratory
data sheets). No contamination was found in the well at 18166 S. Airport Way, located between
the two subject sites (see enclosed site map).
While any quantity of MtBE is undesirable in drinking water, the concentrations found in your
wells are approximately an order of magnitude below the lowest established drinking water
standards (5.0 µg/L based on the Taste and Odor Threshold). It is our intent to have the
responsible parties remediate all effects of the gasoline release. Until that time the responsible
parties have been directed to monitor your wells quarterly and provide you with copies of the
analytical results.
California Environmental Protection Agency
ecycled Paper
