This includes products that are: •Spilled •Broken/leaking •Not in their original package •Open/used, seal is broken •Expired, e.g., medicines and vitamins 1.Use the PDT gun to scan the product and identify the waste category. If the PDT is not available, use the waste category guide. 2.Place the product upright in sealable plastic bag. If item is leaking, add absorbent or kitty litter to absorb free liquid. DOUBLE BAG ALL LEAKERS. 3.You may add more than one item per bag if the SKU/Items are identical. Otherwise, it’s one item per bag. Batteries must have non-conductive tape placed over the terminals prior to placing in plastic bags. 4.Label the bag with the product name if the label is unreadable. Place the bag in the appropriate tote. 5.If the waste is the result of a spill: •Wear proper PPE. •Contain spill with absorbent and/or paper towels. •Sweep and collect the absorbent and paper towels and place in bags along with the product container. •Use as many plastic bags as necessary. •Double bag as needed. •Label plastic bags with a description of the contents, e.g., “Bleach cleanup.” 6.When placing material in appropriate tote, ensure that the tote label is filled out. The accumulation start date is the date when the first item is placed in the tote. This date tells you how long waste has been stored there. 7.If prior to pick up, you’ve exceeded 8 totes, request pickup as soon as possible through Office Trax or SDS.
