The operation will consist of taking day old chicks and raising them to 16 weeks of age when
they will be ready to move into an egg laying facility.
There are three wells on the premises; a primary well and two smaller back-up wells.
The prevailing wind direction is from the NW/W to the SE/E spring through fall.
Manure Management
There is a conveyor belt directly under three decks of chickens and a floor scraper under the bottom
deck which take manure to the back of the house. At the back of the house a cross conveyor takes the
manure directly into a "tunnel dryer"on a daily basis. The "tunnel dryer" is an integral part of the house
where the manure is taken back and forth on conveyors in front of the house exhaust fans. When the
manure comes out of the dryer the moisture content is reduced to 15-20%.
This dry manure will be dumped directly into a tarped trailer. When the trailer is full it will be hauled off
the premises. There will be no manure stored on the ranch.
Solid Waste
