ARCADIS
• hand auger, drive sampler, extension rods, stainless steel sample tubes, steel hand
trowel, rock hammer, and/or similar equipment for collection of soil samples
• portable global positioning system (GPS) unit
• digital camera
• nitrile gloves
3.5 Sample Analysis
Off-site soil analytical services will be provided by a laboratory that is accredited by the
California CDPH. The selected analytical laboratory for the soil samples is C&T of
Berkeley, California. The laboratory will be instructed to report estimated values, i.e.,
between the method detection limit and reporting limit, with a "J" qualifier.
Soil samples (primary and duplicate) will be collected for potential analysis using one
or more of the following methods, as indicated in Table 1. Soil samples collected from
1.5 to 2.0 and 4.5 to 5.0 feet bgs from the 13 soil borings samples will be archived
pending receipt of analytical results from the shallow soil sample collected from 0 to
0.5 foot bgs.
• Fifty-three (including two duplicate) samples will be collected for potential analysis
for California Assessment Manual (CAM) 17 (Title 22) Metals using U.S. EPA
Method 6020.
• Four (including one duplicate) samples will be collected for potential analysis for
chromium speciation using U.S. EPA Method 7196.
• Twenty-two (including two duplicate) samples will be collected for potential
analysis for soluble lead (Soluble Threshold Limits Concentrations [STLC]) using
U.S. EPA Method 6020.
• Seventeen (including one duplicate, field, and equipment blank) samples will be
collected for potential analysis for VOCs using U.S. EPA Method 8260.
• Fourteen (including one duplicate) samples will be collected for potential analysis
for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using U.S. EPA Method 8270C.
• Fourteen (including one duplicate) samples will be collected for potential analysis
for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) using U.S. EPA Method 8015. TPH will
be quantified as gasoline (TPHg), diesel (TPHd), and motor oil (TPHmo).
• Fourteen(including one duplicate) samples will be collected for potential analysis
for semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs) using U.S. EPA Method 8270.
• Eighteen (including two duplicate) samples will be collected for potential analysis
for organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) using U.S. EPA Method 8081A.
• Fourteen (including one duplicate) samples will be collected for potential analysis
for organophosphate pesticides (OPPs) using U.S. EPA Method 8141.
Page 20 wp-PEA-Gordon-Jul10-RV009808.doc:
